Lions not planning to interview Todd Bowles

The Detroit Lions don't have any plans to interview Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator Todd Bowles.

At this time a week ago, a report had just come out about Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator Todd Bowles and the Detroit Lions. The Lions reportedly made contact with the Cardinals about Bowles, seemingly indicating that they had interest in interviewing him. That report turned out to be false, though, and all was quiet on the Bowles front until Monday night.

On Monday night, MLive's Justin Rogers reported that the Lions don't have any plans to interview Bowles, meaning he is not a candidate to replace Jim Schwartz. Here's more on Bowles and the Lions:

After having conversations with the Lions' front office, Bowles' agent said both sides have agreed to go in different directions.

Back in 2009, the Lions' coaching search actually came down to Bowles and Schwartz. The Lions interviewed both of them twice before ultimately going with Schwartz for their head coaching job.

This time around, the Lions have only interviewed Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Jim Caldwell so far for their vacant head coaching job, but more interviews are expected to take place this week.
