The Detroit Lions have now completed three interviews for their vacant head coaching job. The latest interview was on Wednesday and featured former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Munchak.
The Lions were originally scheduled to interview Munchak on Friday, but his interview was bumped up a couple days. Why? Well, the Lions apparently are planning to fly out to San Diego to meet with Ken Whisenhunt on Thursday, so they decided to go ahead and have their interview with Munchak on Wednesday. (Previously, the Lions interviewed Gary Kubiak on Tuesday and Jim Caldwell last Friday.)
Munchak was just fired last Saturday by the Titans after he refused to make changes to his coaching staff. Titans ownership reportedly wanted Munchak to shake things up by bringing in some new assistants and/or coordinators, but that didn't happen and he was fired as a result.
In his three seasons as head coach of the Titans, Munchak compiled a 22-26 record. He went 9-7 in his first season before closing out his tenure with records of 6-10 and 7-9.
