Ziggy Ansah named NFC Defensive Player of the Week

For the second time this season, a Detroit Lions player has been named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week. Congrats, Ziggy Ansah!

Detroit Lions defensive end Ziggy Ansah had one of the best games of his young career on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings. Despite playing only 33 snaps -- he was on the field only 49 percent of the time -- Ansah made a huge impact: five tackles, 2.5 sacks, three tackles for loss, three quarterback hits and one forced fumble.

To recognize Ansah's outstanding performance in the Lions' win over the Vikings, the NFL named him the NFC Defensive Player of Week 6.

Ansah is now the second Lions player to take home that honor this season. After Week 1, linebacker DeAndre Levy was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week, and he was actually later named the NFC Defensive Player of the Month for September.

With the Lions defense establishing itself as one of the best in the NFL, I have a feeling this won't be the last time one of their players takes home this award.
