Lions injury report: Calvin Johnson practices again

Calvin Johnson's chances of playing on Sunday seem to be improving with him practicing for a second straight day.

Bruce Kluckhohn-USA TODAY Sports

Coming into this week, the thinking was that the Detroit Lions would sit wide receiver Calvin Johnson for Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons. Although getting him back would certainly be nice, letting him rest for another week would allow him to sit until Week 10 with the Lions' bye coming up. Essentially, keeping him out this week would give Johnson an extended rest before the second half of the season begins.

It's still entirely possible that Johnson will miss Sunday's game, but after practicing for a second straight day, his chances of getting on the field at Wembley Stadium seem to be going up.

On the flip side, running back Reggie Bush missed practice after being limited on Wednesday. He could obviously be good to go by Sunday, but that might be an indication that he needs another week off. With Theo Riddick fully practicing on Thursday, it's clear he is going to return this week, so the Lions could potentially be able to get by without Bush.

One other injury note: It turns out that offensive tackle LaAdrian Waddle suffered his concussion on the Lions' game-winning extra point. Despite this, he came back in for the Lions' final kneeldown on their next series. What exactly happened? Apparently Waddle didn't appear to have a concussion at that point.

In any case, Waddle missed practice again on Thursday, indicating that he hasn't been cleared to return yet. If he isn't cleared by Sunday, the Lions will have to start Garrett Reynolds or Cornelius Lucas at right tackle.

Here's the Lions' full injury report for Thursday:

RB Reggie Bush (ankle) - Did not practice
RB Theo Riddick (hamstring) - Fully practiced
WR Calvin Johnson (ankle) - Limited in practice
