Lions-Falcons inactives: Calvin Johnson out again

The Detroit Lions will be without Calvin Johnson, Reggie Bush and several other offensive players on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons.

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Detroit Lions are extremely banged up on the offensive side of the ball, as evidenced by this week's list of inactives. All seven players are on offense, and six of them are out because they are injured.

The most notable name among the group of inactives is wide receiver Calvin Johnson, who is missing his third straight game due to a high-ankle sprain. Although Johnson practiced throughout the week, the Lions obviously would rather rest Johnson going into the bye week to ensure that he'll be 100 percent when the second half of the season begins in Week 10. The same goes for running back Reggie Bush, who is also out with an ankle injury.

In addition to Johnson and Bush, starting right tackle LaAdrian Waddle and the Lions' top three tight ends are inactive on Sunday because of injuries. It goes without saying, but the Lions' backups will really have to step it up in London against the Atlanta Falcons.

Here's the Lions' full list of inactives:

QB Kellen Moore
RB Reggie Bush
WR Calvin Johnson
TE Brandon Pettigrew
TE Joseph Fauria
TE Eric Ebron
OT LaAdrian Waddle

And here are the Falcons' inactives:

QB Sean Renfree
WR Freddie Martino
OT Cameron Bradfield
OT Jonathan Scott
DE Jonathan Babineaux
LB Tyler Starr
CB Javier Arenas
