Lions notes: James Ihedigbo, George Winn, more

Lions notes looks at James Ihedigbo, George Winn and much more.

Jeff Zelevansky
  • James Ihedigbo was fined $16,000 for a hit on Geno Smith last week. Actually, the fine turned out to be from Ihedigbo's first snap back from injury, according to Justin Rogers. Paula Pasche reports that Ihedigbo is going to appeal the fine.

  • After being placed on injured reserve earlier this week, Montell Owens' locker was removed from the Detroit Lions' locker room. It's unclear why that happened, but it's probably a good indication that he will be released with an injury settlement at some point.

  • George Winn, who was promoted from the practice squad to take Owens' roster spot and is now on his eighth (!) NFL contract, is actually living with his parents in West Bloomfield.

  • Discipline!
  • If Calvin Johnson plays on Sunday without any limitations, chances are he will see a lot of double coverage.
  • Stephen Tulloch had surgery to repair his torn ACL this week, and he said it "couldn't have went better."

  • In other injury news, here's the latest on TJ Jones: That's good for Jones, but given the lack of available spots at wide receiver right now, I can't imagine he will be activated from the PUP list unless someone already on the 53-man roster goes down with an injury.

  • Even the players on the Lions' practice squad are having a tough time avoiding injuries.
  • Eric Ebron is having a rough fantasy football season. At least Ebron has a good team name: "(E)bron Not (L)eBron" (via Kyle Meinke).

  • Earlier this week, the Lions brought in running backs Alex Green and Tashard Choice and wide receivers Ramses Barden and Damian Williams to work out for them, according to Field Yates.

  • Glover Quin was mic'd up against the New York Jets last week.

  • The 2015 NFL Draft is officially headed to Chicago, and it's going to take place April 30-May 2.
