The Detroit Lions don't have a new kicker in place just yet, but they have already released Alex Henery. Jim Caldwell broke the news of Henery's release during his Monday press conference, and he made it clear that the kicking game is something the Lions have to fix going forward.
Caldwell on next kicker: We've got to find a performer. We've got to get a guy who's consistent under pressure.

Henery's release comes as no surprise considering he went 0-for-3 on Sunday. Overall, he went 1-for-5 in two games with the Lions, and he was no better than Nate Freese, who was released earlier in the year.
With the Lions now set to have their third different kicker this season, they have scheduled a workout for Tuesday, according to Dave Birkett. It's unclear how many kickers have been invited to the workout, but I'm sure some of the names on this list (minus David Akers) will get a look:
Best available kickers for the #Lions: Matt Prater, Connor Barth, Rian Lindell, Jay Feely, David Akers, Garrett Hartley.

Matt Prater makes the most sense given how excellent he was last season, but there's no guarantee he will be the guy they choose. I suppose it will really come down to whichever kicker performs the best during Tuesday's workout.
