In a move that has really become a tradition of sorts, the Detroit Lions have re-signed defensive tackle Andre Fluellen. Yes, Fluellen is back with the Lions yet again.
Fluellen returns to the Lions this time as a replacement for the injured Nick Fairley. It's unclear how long Fairley will be out with a sprained MCL and PCL, but he isn't expected to return for a while. As a result, the Lions needed more than three healthy defensive tackles, so Fluellen was again re-signed. This has to be a record:
This is Fluellen's eighth drafting/signing or re-signing with the #Lions

Before Monday, Fluellen last re-signed with the Lions back in March. He spent the offseason competing for a spot at defensive tackle, but he was let go during the final round of cuts in August with rookie Caraun Reid making the team as the fourth DT. At the time, it seemed clear that Fluellen would be back if any injuries occurred at defensive tackle, and that's exactly what ended up happening with Fairley getting hurt.
To make room for Fluellen, cornerback Danny Gorrer was released.
