The Detroit Lions were on a bye last week, meaning they didn't have a chance to help or hurt their standing in NFL power rankings. That's evidenced by their general lack of movement in this week's power rankings:
- SB Nation: 4th (no change)
- NFL.com: 9th (no change)
- ESPN: 6th (no change)
- CBS Sports: 6th (no change)
- FOX Sports: 4th (up from 9th)
As you can see, the Lions didn't move around at all in four sets of rankings, and only FOX Sports altered Detroit's spot this week. Actually, FOX Sports moved the Lions up five spots after moving them down two spots last week. I'm not quite sure why that happened, but the Lions are now in the top five on FOX Sports.
The Miami Dolphins, which will play at the Lions on Sunday, are currently ranked 14th (SB Nation), 13th (NFL.com), 13th (ESPN), 13th (CBS Sports) and eighth (FOX Sports). They have really jumped up quite a bit in recent weeks, and they will look to keep their rise going in Detroit. The Lions, on the other hand, will look to put a stop to the Dolphins' hot streak and solidify their status as a top-five team.
