Lions-Dolphins inactives: Brandon Pettigrew in, Joseph Fauria out

Only one of the Detroit Lions' top three tight ends is active for Sunday's game.

Andrew Weber-USA TODAY Sports

Coming out of the Detroit Lions' bye week, the hope was that at least two of their top three tight ends would return from injury. With two of them being declared questionable earlier in the week, it looked like there was a chance that a pair of them would be good to go on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins.

Unfortunately for the Lions, only Brandon Pettigrew is actually returning this week. He's active, but Joseph Fauria and Eric Ebron are not. Ebron was previously declared doubtful, so his absence on Sunday is no surprise, but it looked like Fauria was on track to play. Evidently he needs at least one more week to be healthy enough to see the field, though.

On the bright side for the Lions, running back Reggie Bush, wide receiver Calvin Johnson and offensive tackle LaAdrian Waddle are active after missing some time with injuries of their own. Their return should provide a big boost for the offense.

Here's the full list of inactives for the Lions:

QB Kellen Moore
WR Ryan Broyles
TE Eric Ebron
TE Joseph Fauria
OT Garrett Reynolds
DE Larry Webster
DT Nick Fairley

And here are the Dolphins' inactives for Sunday:

TE Dion Sims
OT Jason Fox
OG Daryn Colledge
OG Billy Turner
DE Terrence Fede
DT Anthony Johnson
LB Kelvin Sheppard
