Week 14 NFL picks against the spread: Don't speak of December

Who isn't still recovering from Thanksgiving? Let's just hope the Turkey hangover doesn't affect our picks against the spread like December seems to affect Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys.

Speaking of which...

BEARS (+3.5) over Cowboys

8-11 in December and January under Jason Garrett. 1-3 last year. 0-1 to start this year (against the spread at least).

BENGALS (-3) over Steelers

Andy Dalton has been ill (actually sick) and Ben Roethlisberger has been limited with a wrist injury. Prepare for a classic Bengals-Steelers musty game.

Colts (-3.5) over BROWNS

Johnny Manziel would've covered the spread.

Buccaneers (+10) over LIONS

Wink. Wink. Wink. Or to protect myself in case a repeat of last year happens.

TITANS (pick) over Giants

The Giants have a little injury problem, and they're the Giants.

Ravens (+3) over DOLPHINS

Lock of the week, like a Ryan Tannehill downfield pass.

VIKINGS (-6) over Jets

If a crushing Monday Night Football loss didn't do the Jets in, Rex Ryan pretty much crying after the game probably did. Rex Ryan trying to explain the Jets being 2-10 reminds me of Stan Van Gundy trying to explain the Pistons' horrendous start.

Panthers (+10) over SAINTS

The Saints won 28-10 earlier this season on the road, but they have actually been worse at home this year, losing their last three. I think they win, but by only a touch.

Rams (-2.5) over REDSKINS

Colt McCoy took six sacks against the Colts. If the offensive line protects him like that against the Rams, he'll get sacked 12 times this week. Assuming the Rams saved themselves some points after last week's video game 52-0 (!!) win against Oakland, the Rams will cover this easily.

Texans (-5) over JAGUARS

J.J. Watt's world goes to Jacksonville for a vacation.

BRONCOS (-10) over Bills

Kyle Orton returns to the Mile High City, where he backed up Tim Tebow.

Chiefs (+1) over CARDINALS

"When you stink, you stink. You point out how you stunk and get it corrected," Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians said after their second straight loss last week to the Falcons. Not quite as easy as taking a shower or applying 16 strokes of some deodorant.

RAIDERS (+8) over 49ers

Jim Harbaugh to Michigan! Right? Right?

Seahawks (+1) over EAGLES

Pete Carroll says he loves Mark Sanchez. I call BS for a week.

Patriots (-3.5) over CHARGERS

Both of these quarterbacks love December (take notes, Tony), but the Patriots haven't lost back-to-back games since 2012. That's remarkable. Even more remarkable is that they've rarely lost two games in a row since 2002 (just five times).

Falcons (+12.5) over PACKERS

A battle of totally equal division leaders. Of course this game will be closer than 13 points.
