- After Jim Schwartz was fired, Reggie Bush stopped by the Detroit Lions' facility in Allen Park to tell Martin Mayhew and Tom Lewand that running backs coach Curtis Modkins should be retained. Bush got his wish, as Modkins was indeed retained by new head coach Jim Caldwell.
- Bush, who will turn 29 next month, said last week in an interview that he is hoping to play for "at least another five years." Bush has three years left on his current contract, which runs through the 2016 season.
- Larry Warford got one vote for the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award. Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy ran away with the award with 35 votes.
- Calvin Johnson won the Bridgestone Performance Play of the Year award on Saturday for his 50-yard touchdown catch over three Cincinnati Bengals defenders. That was also our top play of the 2013 season for the Lions.
- Marcus Robertson, who served as the Lions' secondary coach last season, was not retained by Caldwell, but he has reportedly been hired as the Oakland Raiders' assistant defensive backs coach.
- Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh denied that Caldwell was going to be let go as the team's offensive coordinator if he had not been hired by the Lions.
John Harbaugh on red carpet at NFL Honors said it was "fiction" he planned to part ways with/reassign Jim Caldwell if he didnt get Lions job
