Lions add Devin Fitzsimmons to coaching staff, according to report

The Detroit Lions have reportedly hired another assistant coach.

The Detroit Lions have reportedly added yet another assistant to their coaching staff. According to CoachingSearch.com, the Lions have hired Delaware tight ends coach/special teams coordinator Devin Fitzsimmons to be their assistant special teams coach.

Jim Caldwell previously elected to retain special teams coordinator John Bonamego, who joined the Lions last year. Caldwell also brought back Evan Rothstein as the Lions' quality control coach for special teams, so the addition of Fitzsimmons apparently means that the Lions will have three coaches involved with the special teams units in 2014.

Fitzsimmons is joining the Lions after spending the 2013 season at Delaware. Before that, he was an offensive assistant at Rutgers in 2012, an offensive quality control coach for the Indianapolis Colts in 2011 (on Caldwell's coaching staff), a tight ends coach at Richmond in 2010 and a graduate assistant at Virginia in 2009. He also spent some time at Shaw University, Bucknell and Kansas State.
