The chances of tight end Brandon Pettigrew re-signing with the Detroit Lions don't exactly seem great. On Tuesday night, there was talk that the Lions might bring in free-agent tight end Scott Chandler for a visit, and on Wednesday morning, five different teams were mentioned as having interest in Pettigrew. The Lions are one of them, but they have some competition:

The Lions have made it no secret that they want to re-sign Pettigrew, and the two New York teams have been connected to him multiple times in recent days. The Houston Texans and Oakland Raiders are new potential landing spots for Pettigrew, though. Houston just released Owen Daniels, so Pettigrew could be viewed as a possible replacement for him, and the Raiders just have a ton of cap space to use up.
If Pettigrew does indeed sign elsewhere, I'd imagine that things would start moving pretty quickly with Chandler. Chandler seems to be their Plan B at tight end, and for now I'm guessing that they're just waiting for Pettigrew to make a decision one way or another.
