- The Free Press' Dave Birkett reports that "odds are" Brandon Pettigrew won't be re-signed before the free agency negotiating period begins on Saturday. Birkett also reports that the Detroit Lions are "comfortable" with the possibility that Pettigrew could test free agency. In other words, the Lions feel like they will have a good shot at re-signing Pettigrew even if other teams get a chance to talk to him.
- Martin Mayhew wants to "see continued improvement" from the Lions' group of young cornerbacks.
- SB Nation's latest 2014 NFL mock draft has the Lions taking Oklahoma State cornerback Justin Gilbert despite the fact that Buffalo outside linebacker Khalil Mack was still available. I'd much rather see the Lions take Mack in that scenario.
- Pro Football Focus put together a top 75 list for this year's free agents.
- Daniel Jeremiah has updated his top 50 rankings for the 2014 NFL Draft. Similarly, Mike Mayock has updated his position rankings for this year's draft.
- There's some talk that the NFL could experiment with 43-yard extra points in the preseason.
- After restructuring his contract this offseason, Tony Romo's cap hit for 2015 is now $27.77 million. Yikes.
