Positions (first round)

  • Cornerback - 22
  • Wide receiver - 8
  • Linebacker - 3
  • Safety - 3
  • Tight end - 2
  • Offensive tackle - 1

It's seems the wide receiver bandwagon is emptying and the cornerback bandwagon is filling up. These two positions were nearly even in our last mock draft database, but given what happened at the combine, most people have decided that a cornerback in the first round is the Lions' best option. Part of that is based around Justin Gilbert's strong performance, and since wide receiver is viewed as such a deep position, a lot of people opted to wait until the second round to have the Lions address that need.

Players (first round)

  • CB Justin Gilbert - 16
  • CB Darqueze Dennard - 5
  • WR Mike Evans - 4
  • S Ha Ha Clinton-Dix - 3
  • WR Sammy Watkins - 2
  • WR Marqise Lee - 2
  • TE Eric Ebron - 2
  • LB C.J. Mosley - 2
  • OT Greg Robinson - 1
  • LB Khalil Mack - 1
  • CB Bradley Roby - 1

Gilbert was the leader in our last mock draft database by a slim margin. That's not the case this time around. He is now the clear-cut leader with 41 percent of the mocks in our database sending him to the Lions at No. 10. By comparison, Darqueze Dennard came in second, and he only showed up as the Lions' pick in around 13 percent of the mocks in our database. As we head into free agency, Gilbert is the absolute favorite to be the Lions' first-round pick.
