With the 13th pick in Pride Of Detroit's 2014 NFL mock draft, the St. Louis Rams select Alabama safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix. Lead Hunter is serving as the Rams' general manager, and his reasoning for the pick is below.
The Rams gave up way too many easy completions last year in the secondary, so an upgrade is needed at safety. They picked up T.J. McDonald in the third round of the draft last year to play SS. They would like to find a solid FS to go with McDonald and make the safety position a strength for years to come. Top-rated safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix would fill that need.
Clinton-Dix has a rare combination of size, speed, ball skills and instincts. He gets to the play quickly and can go up and fight WRs for the ball. CBS Sports compares him to Earl Thomas of Seattle: "Should Clinton-Dix continue to improve, he could soon join Thomas as a Pro Bowler." Ha Ha, as he is often called, should be a nice addition to the Rams secondary and bring the number of easy completions down to a more tolerable level.
