With the 22nd pick in Pride Of Detroit's 2014 NFL mock draft, the Philadelphia Eagles select LSU wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. N4ry4 is serving as the Eagles' general manager, and his reasoning for the pick is below.
The Eagles may have re-signed Riley Cooper, as well as Jeremy Maclin (who was out all of last year), but parting with DeSean Jackson creates a huge hole in this offense. This team needs a playmaker who can threaten defenses deep. Odell Beckham Jr. offers that and more.
Beckham was an electric playmaker for LSU. His combination of speed and quickness, as well as his ability to get separation and make contested catches, will pay big dividends for Philadelphia going forward. He has great hands and runs good routes as well.
This was not an easy decision. I also strongly considered linebacker C.J. Mosley and cornerback Kyle Fuller. But, given the fact that this is a passing league and my own very high opinion of Beckham Jr. as a prospect, I think the LSU wideout offers the best value to Philly at this point in the draft.
