2014 NFL mock draft: Saints select Kelvin Benjamin

The New Orleans Saints take Kelvin Benjamin with the 27th pick of the 2014 POD Community Mock Draft.

With the 27th pick in Pride Of Detroit's 2014 NFL mock draft, the New Orleans Saints select Florida State wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin. JustWinginit is serving as the Saints' general manager, and his reasoning for the pick is below.

Going into 2014, the Saints are starting to creep up there in age. Drew Brees is now 35, and Marques Colston will be 31 by the time the 2014 season kicks off. I was torn between Kelvin Benjamin and Kyle Fuller, but I believe Benjamin helps this team sooner rather than later. According to TeamRankings.com, the Saints dropped from 68.42 percent (second in 2012) in TD red zone scoring percentage down to 55.56 percent (12th) in 2013. Benjamin's skill set lends itself directly to helping improve this sort of number.

Admittedly, I was hesitant due to the recent character concerns surrounding Benjamin. However, I do believe the Saints offense is suited well to help him become not just a great player who will reach his potential, but a consummate professional in the process. I expect his raw physical ability and immense talent to shine in this offense, while helping the Saints reload with another weapon for the face of their franchise.
