With the 31st pick in Pride Of Detroit's 2014 NFL mock draft, the Denver Broncos select Alabama middle linebacker C.J. Mosley. JayLaw is serving as the Broncos' general manager, and his reasoning for the pick is below.
After the Broncos' embarrassing performance in the Super Bowl last season, John Elway went on a massive spending spree in free agency. The additions of T.J. Ward, DeMarcus Ware and Aqib Talib were major upgrades for Jack Del Rio's defense. The glaring hole on the defense is at MLB, where they started Paris Lenon in the Super Bowl and lost Wesley Woodyard in FA. C.J. Mosley is the BPA and fills a huge need.
Mosley is scheme versatile, has great instincts and is a three-down MIKE LB, which is rare. He does have some injury red flags, which is why I think it is possible he falls this far in the actual draft. I was originally thinking I would draft OG Xavier Su'a Filo or CB Kyle Fuller, not thinking Mosley would be available. Also, Wes Welker will be gone after this year, so WR is a possibility.
