With the 32nd pick in Pride Of Detroit's 2014 NFL mock draft, the Seattle Seahawks select UCLA offensive guard/tackle Xavier Su'a-Filo. Seabeeruss is serving as the Seahawks' general manager, and his reasoning for the pick is below.
After winning the Super Bowl, the Seahawks are in a decent position roster-wise. I found three areas of need: WR, D-line and O-line. With the loss of Golden Tate, Percy Harvin's health not being a sure bet and the lack of depth to develop, WR needs to be addressed. Protecting Russell Wilson also has got to be a high priority, as it has been proven time after time that you cannot throw while lying on your back (44 sacks in 2013). Defensively, it starts up front by disrupting the passer, and the NFC West is now a three-team race.
Having decided which need should be a priority, and considering the depth at each position, I went with Xavier Su'a-Filo, an OG/OT from UCLA. My reasoning being that you can never have enough O-line talent to develop, and his overall college production leads me to believe that even if he is not Day 1 starter, he has an excellent opportunity to contribute on a rotational basis. I took into consideration his ability to play both guard and tackle, giving the game day planners more flexibility. Not the most eye-popping pick, but one that to me made the most sense at 32.
