2014 NFL mock draft: Titans select Carlos Hyde

The Tennessee Titans take Carlos Hyde with the 42nd pick of the 2014 POD Community Mock Draft.

Robert Mayer-USA TODAY Sports

With the 42nd pick in Pride Of Detroit's 2014 NFL mock draft, the Tennessee Titans select Ohio State running back Carlos Hyde. Detroit_fan is serving as the Titans' general manager, and his reasoning for the pick is below.

The Titans have moved on from Chris Johnson, so I decided to take this opportunity to choose a new franchise RB for the them. I had my choice of running backs, and after researching, decided that Carlos Hyde was the man for them. Hyde checks in at 6'0 and 230 pounds, and he's a bruising power back who can help the Titans control the pace of the game. They can count on him to eat up some clock in games where they hold the lead. Hyde possesses great hands and good receiving capabilities, is excellent in short-yardage and goal-line situations, has great size, power, strength and balance and is a finisher.

The only running back ever to run for over 1,000 yards in a single season on a team coached by Urban Meyer, Hyde had 1,521 yards on 208 carries in 2013 for an impressive average of 7.3 yards per carry. Hyde has all the tools to be a three-down back in the NFL, and with a little work in the weight room, some work on his pass protection and some NFL experience, I believe he will develop into a very nice NFL player, which is not easy to say as a die-hard Michigan fan.
