With the 2014 NFL Draft in the books, the time has come to hand out draft grades for each team's picks. Our community-wide vote on the Detroit Lions' 2014 NFL Draft class will take place on Monday, but in the meantime let's examine what others are saying about their picks.
Here's a rundown of some 2014 draft grades for the Lions:
- SB Nation's Matthew Fairburn: A-
- ESPN's Mel Kiper: B-
- Sports Illustrated's Doug Farrar: B
- Rotoworld's Evan Silva: C+
- CBS Sports' Rob Rang: B+
- CBS Sports' Pete Prisco: B-
The reviews are actually a bit more positive than I was expecting. I figured the Lions would get hammered for not addressing their secondary more, but the grades range from average to above average. This obviously means nothing considering we won't be able to truly grade this draft class until a few years from now, but at least on paper, the Lions' average grade is in the B to B- range.
