Below is a recap of what defensive end Larry Webster had to say about being picked in the fourth round by the Detroit Lions on Saturday. (Quotes provided by the Lions.)

On his pre-draft visit with the Lions: "It was my first visit and everything, so I really liked the facility and everything I saw there. So, I was really happy once I did get the call. I was kind of hoping that I did."

On what position the Lions pegged him for: "They told me I'm playing defensive end. Tight end, they just saw that because, you know, I played basketball and I had a couple of touchdowns, but I mostly played defensive end. That's what I'm good at."

On how many plays he saw at tight end: "I actually didn't even play any tight end. It was just red-zone receiver, so they would just throw me the jump ball."

On how many teams wanted him as an offensive player: "I actually didn't work out with any teams for tight end, but I worked out for tight end at my pro day. That's the only time I did tight end stuff."

On if his basketball background helps him at playing defensive end: "I would say so. Especially in my position when you get one-on-ones, you know, playing one-on-one in the post, you've got to know how to maneuver and stuff like that. So, I think it kind of helps you out."

On what made him want to start playing football: "I've always loved playing football, it's just in college, I ended up getting a scholarship for basketball. I was going to try to play both, and when my basketball eligibility was up, I gave football another try. I tried out for the team and I made the team. It just kept going from there."

On his father's reaction to him getting drafted: "He's really excited. Anything I need to ask him, I can ask him. He's always there for me for any question that I would need."

On what weight NFL teams are telling him to reach: "Around like 260 or so, not too big. The main point is to get stronger."

On Lions defensive line coaches Kris Kocurek and Jim Washburn: "I'm real excited. They seem like real cool people. I talked to them for a good amount of time when I saw them up there. I had a couple calls, so I really got a good feel from them. I'm just excited to be coached."

On playing with the Lions defensive line: "I'm not too familiar with anybody, but I know a couple of them just by watching."

On if he was watching the Draft when he got his phone call: "I was watching the Draft all day today, and then I got the call. So, yeah, I was watching the Draft the whole time."

On if he was surprised to be selected in the fourth round: "It was pretty surprising, but you always expect to go at least at a decent round. I'm very happy for where I went."

On how much his combine results helped his stock: "I think they helped me a lot actually. I did pretty good in all the rest of the drills, so I feel like that helped me out a lot."
