Lions ready to kick off first set of OTAs

The Detroit Lions' first set of organized team activities begins on Tuesday.

The next phase of the NFL offseason has arrived for the Detroit Lions. After completing the 2014 NFL Draft and holding a rookie minicamp earlier in the month, the time has come for the entire team to get together for organized team activities. There are limits on what can actually take place during OTAs, and attendance is not mandatory, but this is the first chance the Lions have gotten to practice as an entire team since their voluntary minicamp in April.

The Lions' first OTA is scheduled for Tuesday. There will be two more practices later in the week, and then the team will break for Memorial Day weekend before returning for three more OTAs next week. The Lions will then hold four practices at the start of June as part of their final set of OTAs, and a mandatory minicamp later in June will bring this phase of the offseason to a close.

Here's a full look at the Lions' upcoming offseason schedule:

OTAs

May 20-22
May 27-29
June 2-5

Minicamp

June 10-12 (mandatory)

After that mandatory minicamp, the Lions will be off until the start of training camp at the end of July.
