It's no secret at this point that the Detroit Lions have thoroughly scouted Clemson wide receiver Sammy Watkins. They met with him at his pro day, brought him in for a pre-draft visit and have publicly made it known that they like him quite a bit. What's more, Ian Rapoport reports that the Lions kept in constant contact with Watkins at one point in the lead-up to the 2014 NFL Draft.
How much work did the #Lions do on #Clemson WR Sammy Watkins? At 1 point, they were talking to him nearly every day. The interest is real.

Watkins himself said earlier this week that the Lions' interest in him is "kinda serious." I guess if they were talking to him nearly every day, it's no surprise that he views Detroit as a legitimate landing spot despite the Lions having the 10th overall pick.
On a related note, Adam Schefter reported on Thursday that the Lions are one of the teams that have "inquired" about moving up in the draft. This doesn't mean a deal will actually happen, of course, but there is no shortage of rumors about the Lions, a trade up and Watkins. At the very least, it seems like a real possibility.
