When the Detroit Lions went on the clock with the 10th overall pick, it looked like their top options for a pass catcher were gone with Sammy Watkins and Mike Evans off the board. As it turned out, though, the Lions still had a top option in tight end Eric Ebron, and they decided to make him their first-round pick.
Given the Lions' needs elsewhere, especially on defense, the reaction has seemingly been pretty negative for the Ebron pick so far. The thinking is that the Lions don't need an extra tight end, but instead they could have used some help in the secondary or somewhere else on defense.
For the Lions, their thinking is that Ebron will give opposing defenses another matchup to worry about. He's another big body, and the Lions are hoping to have him play a Jimmy Graham type of role in their new offense.
Obviously it remains to be seen how this pick will turn out in the long run, but do you approve of it right now or do you think it was a mistake? Vote in the poll below and leave your thoughts in the comments.
