TE Jacob Maxwell (Louisiana-Lafayette) - Undrafted free agent
After drafting Eric Ebron in the first round, the Detroit Lions had more than enough tight ends on their roster. However, they released Matt Veldman and moved Michael Williams to offensive tackle following the draft, creating a spot for extra depth at tight end. That spot was filled with the signing of undrafted free agent Jacob Maxwell.

Outlook for 2014
The Lions are pretty stacked at tight end with Eric Ebron, Brandon Pettigrew and Joseph Fauria. Barring an injury, it's tough to see Maxwell factoring into the discussion at that position for the 53-man roster. In all likelihood, he will have to make the practice squad if he wants to stick around this year.
