  • The Detroit News' Josh Katzenstein put together a good piece on how Kyle Van Noy has modeled his work ethic after his hard-working father.

  • Caraun Reid recently said that learning from the Detroit Lions' veterans at defensive tackle has been the biggest help for him since entering the NFL.

  • Will the Lions keep two or three quarterbacks this year? It remains to be seen, but MLive took a look at what Jim Caldwell's past teams did at quarterback over the years.

  • Statistically speaking, Calvin Johnson is the best wide receiver in the NFL on both slant routes and post routes.

  • The NFL is going to have three new referees in 2014. Those three referees are replacing Mike Carey, Scott Green and Ron Winter. Green and Winter retired earlier in the year, whereas Carey just left the NFL to take a job with CBS Sports.

  • According to Dane Brugler, at least one player is expected to enter the 2014 NFL Supplemental Draft: SMU running back Traylon Shead.
