The Detroit Lions are set to open training camp next Monday, and it appears that wide receiver Golden Tate and defensive end Ziggy Ansah might miss at least one practice. I say that because Ian Rapoport reports that Tate and Ansah are both going to open camp on the PUP list:

Tate missed some time last month with a shoulder injury, and Ansah has been recovering from shoulder surgery for much of the offseason. There's been no indication that either player will miss an extended period of time, so this feels like a situation where Tate and Ansah will be sidelined for only one or two practices before being activated.
More than anything, this is a precautionary type of move. The only way to go on the PUP list in the regular season is if you open camp on it, and the Lions are going to be extra careful in case either injury lingers on longer than expected. I don't anticipate that being the case, but better safe than sorry, I suppose.
UPDATE: The Lions have officially put Tate and Ansah on the PUP list, and they have also put wide receiver TJ Jones on it. Jones, like Ansah, is recovering from shoulder surgery.
