According to Josh Katzenstein, the Detroit Lions are waiving linebacker Brandon Hepburn. Additionally, cornerback Mohammed Seisay has been waived, according to Dave Birkett.
Much like last year, there just wasn't room at linebacker for Hepburn, who was taken in the seventh round by the Lions in 2013. Hepburn is seemingly being groomed to be a backup linebacker and special teams player, so he could stick around again on the practice squad.
Seisay joined the Lions as an undrafted free agent out of Nebraska this year. During the preseason, he made a positive impression by picking off a pass and recording three pass defenses, but he was always a long shot to make the team. He should be in consideration for the practice squad, though.
The Lions are now down to 68 players, leaving 15 more releases on the horizon.
