A day after making their final roster cuts to get down to 53 players, the Detroit Lions established their practice squad by signing the following 10 players:
RB George Winn
FB Emil Igwenagu
WR Andrew Peacock
TE Jordan Thompson
OT Michael Williams
OG Rodney Austin
DT Xavier Proctor
LB Julian Stanford
CB Mohammed Seisay
S Nate Ness
All 10 of these players were released by the Lions on Saturday, meaning that no cuts from other teams were signed to their initial practice squad. This could obviously change in the coming days and weeks, but it's pretty interesting that not even one player from elsewhere was brought in for the first edition of their 2014 practice squad.
With the practice squad expanding from eight to 10 players this year, the Lions have some solid extra depth at several positions. All of these players could be candidates for the 53-man roster if any injuries occur, and just generally speaking, the Lions have a nice group of players to develop on the practice squad going into the 2014 season.
What do you think of the Lions' 2014 practice squad?
