It appears that Eric Ebron's official NFL debut may have to wait until next week. I say that because the Detroit Lions tight end didn't take part in Wednesday night's practice at Ford Field because of an injury, and his status for Saturday's preseason opener is currently up in the air.
After practice, Jim Caldwell was mum on Ebron's injury, but he did emphasize that it's nothing serious.
Caldwell says Ebron has an injury and will be out "a couple days" not sure about Saturday's game.

Caldwell said it was nothing serious with Ebron

Considering this is the preseason we're talking about, there's obviously no need to rush things if Ebron isn't 100 percent healthy. Obviously it would be preferable for him to play on Saturday night at Ford Field since game reps are so important for rookies, but this isn't a situation where he has to get out there this week. Even if it's just an injury that sidelines him for a couple days, it's always better to be extra careful this time of year.
Of course, that's assuming that Caldwell's assessment is accurate. If Ebron suddenly misses a week's worth of practices or something like that, then there might be a reason to be concerned. If Caldwell is correct, however, then Ebron should be back on the field sooner rather than later.
