I'm a homer, and always will be. Some of my earliest memories as a Detroit Lions fan are watching my dad’s Sports Illustrated video yearbooks on VHS in the mid-1990s. I didn’t become a truly impassioned fan until the 2006 season, just in time for the Rod Marinelli era. The first season tickets I got were for the 0-16 season, but if anything it solidified my fandom.
I've been writing professionally for over four years now, but needed an outlet to write about the team I love. I started my own blog, Restoring the Roar, back in March 2013 to give me a place to share my Lions thoughts. I wanted a way to share an above-average fan's point of view of the Lions. My goal has always been to provide fans with as much knowledge as I can.
Up until now I’ve been a staff writer for SideLion Report and contributor to DetroitLionsDraft.com. I did a weekly film room column during the season, along with NFL Draft and offseason analysis. I look forward to bringing these things, and more, over to Pride Of Detroit.
One of my passions is going beyond just the headlines, and I encourage everyone to do the same. I ask a lot of questions, and my goal is to bring you guys the answers. I love interacting with other fans. I’m very active on Twitter, and I’d love for you to join the conversation over there as well. You can follow me @justincsimon.
