Lions notes: Nate Freese, Corey Hilliard, more

Lions notes looks at the latest on Nate Freese, what Corey Hilliard had to say about his season-ending injury and much more.

Kevin Hoffman-USA TODAY Sports
  • After his rough performance against the Carolina Panthers, there have been calls for the Detroit Lions to cut kicker Nate Freese. At the very least, the expectation is for them to bring in some veteran kickers for a tryout this week, but the Lions haven't made any decisions yet on what to do with Freese. My guess is that the Lions will take a look at some kickers this week but give Freese one more chance to get things turned around on Sunday. Considering he was a draft pick, I tend to think they will be somewhat patient with him, but if he misses any more kicks this week, that'll probably be it for his time in Detroit.

  • Corey Hilliard talked about his season-ending injury in an article for the Detroit Free Press.

  • Will the Lions get James Ihedigbo and/or LaAdrian Waddle back this week? It's too early to tell:
  • Ziggy Ansah is a good guy.

  • Chicago Bears cornerback Charles Tillman is out for the season after rupturing his triceps muscle on Sunday night.
