The Detroit Lions' nickel cornerbacks just can't seem to stay healthy. First the Lions lost Bill Bentley to a torn ACL, and then they lost Nevin Lawson to a season-ending toe injury. Now, Cassius Vaughn is dealing with an ankle injury that forced him to miss practice on Thursday. He was limited by the injury on Wednesday, but he didn't practice at all on Thursday. That's not exactly a good sign considering Vaughn is expected to step in for Bentley and Lawson at the nickel cornerback spot.
Here's the Lions' full injury report for Thursday:
RB Joique Bell (knee) - Limited in practice
FB Montell Owens (hamstring) - Limited in practice
OT LaAdrian Waddle (calf) - Did not practice
DE Ziggy Ansah (knee) - Did not practice
DE George Johnson (groin) - Did not practice
DT Nick Fairley (biceps) - Limited in practice
LB Travis Lewis (quad) - Did not practice
CB Cassius Vaughn (ankle) - Did not practice
S James Ihedigbo (neck) - Limited in practice
S Don Carey (hamstring) - Fully practiced
The only other change from Wednesday is that defensive end George Johnson completely missed practice after previously being limited. With Ziggy Ansah also out again, the Lions' depth at defensive end is currently being tested. It's possible that both Ansah and Johnson could be good to go by Sunday, but if they're not able to play, I guess it's a good thing that defensive end is one of the deepest positions on the Lions roster.
