Lions notes: Rob Sims, Jerome Couplin, more

In today's Lions notes: Rob Sims, Jerome Couplin and much more.

Tim Fuller-USA TODAY Sports
  • Say what you want about his play the last two seasons, but Rob Sims has really stabilized the left guard position for the Detroit Lions. Sims is set to become a free agent this offseason, and it's unclear at this time if the Lions will have any interest in re-signing him.

  • FYI: Jerome Couplin got a three-year deal from the Philadelphia Eagles when they signed him off the Lions' practice squad. This means that he's under contract through 2016, so unless he's released, the Lions won't have an opportunity to re-sign him this offseason.

  • Ouch:
  • Remember that story about how a 10-year-old Lions fan was cheated out of winning a musical chairs contest at the Dallas Cowboys playoff game? Well, EA Sports stepped up to the plate to make it up to him:
  • Here's a great stat from Pro Football Talk: Since the Carolina Panthers won the NFC South with such a poor record and then advanced to the divisional round, they will "draft behind 11 teams which finished the regular season with better records than their 7-8-1 mark."
