- In a piece for ESPN, Pro Football Focus examined "how many above-average players stood between" each NFL team and the Super Bowl. For the Detroit Lions, PFF found that they are only five above-average players away from contending for the Super Bowl. This put them sixth in the NFL. Not bad.
