Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Teryl Austin now has at least three NFL teams interested in interviewing him. The Atlanta Falcons were the first to make their interest known, and the San Francisco 49ers followed shortly after. Now, the Buffalo Bills have requested an interview with Austin.
#Lions DC Teryl Austin, whose D will be on display today, has been requested for an interview by #Bills. Add that to #49ers & #Falcons

The Bills lost their head coach earlier in the week when Doug Marrone opted out of his contract. There's been talk that current Bills defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz could be a candidate to replace Marrone, but it's unclear if he's truly in the mix at this point. It's also unclear just how serious of a candidate Austin is for the job, but he could potentially interview for three head coaching gigs next week.
For right now, Austin's focus remains on helping the Lions advance to the divisional round of the playoffs. He has a tough task with the Lions facing Tony Romo, DeMarco Murray, Dez Bryant and perhaps the best offensive line in the NFL, but at the same time, this is an excellent opportunity for him to show what he can do as a coach.
