Zach Zenner to go on IR with cracked ribs, collapsed lung

Zach Zenner's season is over after a brutal injury against the Bears.

Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports

During his Monday afternoon press conference, Jim Caldwell announced that Zach Zenner suffered a season-ending injury during Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears.

Zenner suffered multiple cracked ribs and a partially collapsed lung on a hit during the second quarter. As of Monday morning, Zenner remains in the hospital.

Caldwell also announced that Zenner will be put on the injured reserve list, ending his 2015 season.

Zenner, while not a huge contributor to the offense, provided some support while Joique Bell was sidelined with injury. Bell looks like he's on pace to return to the lineup this week, and the Lions will likely need him, as they only have two other active running backs on the roster, Theo Riddick and Ameer Abdullah.
