Rookie Alex Carter's season was not off to the start he had hoped. Back in September, before the regular season began, an ankle injury forced Carter to the injured reserve list with designation to return. That made him ineligible to play until Week 10. After three weeks of mulling it over, the Detroit Lions will keep Carter on IR, ending his 2015 season, Carter told reporters on Monday.
Carter has been practicing with the team for several weeks, but he had not been activated to the 53-man roster prior to Monday. Reports are that he has been very, very rusty in practice. As such, the Lions have shut him down for the remainder of the season.
The Lions are hurting at the cornerback position after season ending injuries to Rashean Mathis and Josh Wilson. However, the Lions apparently think they are okay at the position after adding Bill Bentley last week.
