Lions notes: More on Thursday's front office upheaval

  • After his termination, Martin Mayhew gave a statement to the local FOX 2 News team:
  • Already penciling in Bill Polian for the Lions' general manager position in 2016? Not so fast: As Justin Rogers pointed out, Polian was interviewed in September and did not sound very interested in returning to sports management, saying "I doubt at this stage in my life I would go back."

  • Thursday's firings were not your typical every-few-years kind of move for the Detroit Lions. This was the end of a long-term era:
  • Because Lions fans have great judgement and make excellent personal choices, a bunch of them offered their services to fill the Lions' job vacancies.
