When we last checked in with Jim Caldwell's popularity, the Lions were 1-7, coming off one of their worst losses of the season in London. The end result was an eight percent approval rating, Caldwell's worst by nearly 60 percent.
Since then, things have changed a bit. The Lions went on a three-game winning streak and even flirted with playoff chances. However, after questionable coaching allowed the Packers to complete a game-winning Hail Mary, Caldwell lost any good will he had from most of the fanbase. A follow-up letdown against the Rams last week seems to have sealed his fate.
November 2015: 8% approval
July 2015: 91% approval
January 2015: 89% approval
December 2014: 85% approval
November 2014: 87% approval
October 2014: 94% approval
September 2014: 96% approval
August 2014: 67% approval
June 2014: 77% approval
At this point, it seems likely that Caldwell will not be around next season. With the Lions already in the midst of a general manager search, the organization cannot be too happy with the job Caldwell has done over the past two weeks.
