The Detroit Lions were officially eliminated from playoff contention after Week 14. Now attention turns to the offseason, as the Lions have plenty of issues to fix. As of right now the Lions are slotted to pick sixth in the 2016 NFL Draft, but a lot could change in the final three weeks of the season. For Week 15, here's who you should be rooting for to have the Lions picking in the highest position possible.
Bears (5-8) at Vikings (8-5) - 1 p.m. ET - FOX
Root for: Bears. The Lions have no chance of jumping the Vikings in the standings. As long as the Bears keep winning, the Lions won't catch them either. Of course, no one wants to root for the Bears when they play against the Lions in Week 17, so let's have the Bears get the wins out of the way now.
Falcons (6-7) at Jaguars (5-8) - 1 p.m. ET - FOX
Root for: Jaguars. Though the Falcons are still in free-fall, the Jaguars are still closer to falling below the Lions in the standings. A Jacksonville win would make it tough for the Jaguars to end the season with a higher draft pick than Detroit.
Texans (6-7) at Colts (6-7) - 1 p.m. ET - CBS
Root for: Texans. The Colts have a very easy schedule remaining (Texans, Dolphins, Titans). They're extremely likely to pick up at least one win in those final two games. Even with how inconsistent the Colts have been, it's hard to imagine them finishing 0-3 down the stretch. The Texans have a similarly easy schedule (Colts, Titans, Jaguars), but two of those games are on the road.
Panthers (13-0) at Giants (6-7) - 1 p.m. ET - FOX
Root for: Giants. Easy one.
Titans (3-10) at Patriots (11-2) - 1 p.m. ET - CBS
Root for: Titans. Tennessee is one of three teams with fewer wins than the Lions. A Tennessee win is extremely unlikely this week, but adding another team to the four-win club would be huge for the Lions' draft position.
Bills (6-7) at Redskins (6-7) - 1 p.m. ET - FOX
Root for: Toss up. The NFC East is such a confusing mess that the Redskins could finish 9-7 just as easily as they could finish 6-10. The Bills finish the season with two homes games against the Cowboys and Jets, but they have been just as inconsistent as the NFC East.
Chiefs (8-5) at Ravens (4-9) - 1 p.m. ET - CBS
Root for: Ravens. The Chiefs cannot be caught, while the Ravens have the same record as the Lions. A Baltimore win would be huge for the Lions, as they are currently slotted above the Lions in the draft order.
Browns (3-10) at Seahawks (8-5) - 4:05 p.m. ET - FOX
Root for: Browns. It shouldn't be hard to convince Lions fans to root against Seattle, so it comes as good news that a Browns win would immensely help the Lions' chances at a top five draft pick. Cleveland is one of those three teams with a worse record than the Lions.
Packers (9-4) at Raiders (6-7) - 4:05 p.m. ET - FOX
Root for: Raiders. Oakland could still technically finish with a worse record than the Lions, while the Packers are uncatchable.
Broncos (10-3) at Steelers (8-5) - 4:25 p.m. ET - CBS
Root for: Doesn't matter. Both teams are guaranteed to finish above the Lions in the final standings.
Dolphins (5-8) at Chargers (3-10) - 4:25 p.m. ET - CBS
Root for: Chargers. Come join the four-win club, San Diego. The water is fine.
Bengals (10-3) at 49ers (4-9) - 4:25 p.m. ET - CBS
Root for: 49ers. This is another big one for Detroit. San Francisco is a bad team that is very likely to finish with the same or worse record than the Lions. With the two teams facing off next week, a win for the 49ers here would allow Detroit fans to root for the Lions guilt-free next Sunday.
Cardinals (11-2) at Eagles (6-7) - 8:30 p.m. ET - NBC
Root for: Eagles. A Philly win would make them nearly uncatchable in the final standings, cementing the Lions' place above them in the draft order. Arizona is already thinking about the postseason.
