Week 16 power rankings: The Lions are either average or terrible

There is no consensus on where the Detroit Lions belong in the league.

It appears some NFL analysts submitted their power rankings before Monday Night Football. The Detroit Lions played quite impressively for most of the game and cam out with a tough road victory. Yet some experts weren't too convinced. Two power rankings actually moved the Lions down after the win. Detroit jumped nine spots in one rankings and fell two in another. There is little consensus among analysts where the Lions belong:

  • SB Nation: 18th (up two spots)
  • NFL.com: 21st (up four spot)
  • ESPN: 26th (down one spot)
  • CBS Sports: 27th (down one spots)
  • FOX Sports: 19th (up nine spots)
  • Yahoo! Sports: 24th (up two spots)
  • The Lions will try to show some consistency this week against the lowly San Francisco 49ers. The Niners, after a brief Blaine Gabbert-led resurgence, have fallen back to reality and are considered a bottom five team among all experts.

The 49ers rank 32nd (SB Nation), 28th (NFL.com), 30th (ESPN), 30th (CBS Sports), 28th (FOX Sports) and 31st (Yahoo! Sports).
