Where the Lions salary cap and roster stand going into free agency

A look at where the Detroit Lions salary cap and roster stand going into free agency.

Tim Fuller-USA TODAY Sports

Barring any additional moves before 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday, the Detroit Lions will go into free agency with 58 players under contract, plus two additional players who have been tendered contracts but haven't signed them just yet. We don't know the details for the deals that Matt Prater and Kellen Moore recently got, so they aren't currently factored into the salary cap. For everybody else, only the top 51 contracts actually count against the cap. Here's a look at where things currently stand for the Lions (numbers via Over the Cap and the Free Press):

2015 salary cap ($143,280,000) + carryover ($939,171) + adjustments ($98,820)
= LIONS SALARY CAP:  $144,317,991

Top 51 contracts ($109,566,087) + dead money ($17,319,111)
= LIONS CAP CHARGES: $126,885,198

Lions salary cap ($144,317,991) - Lions cap charges ($126,885,198)
= LIONS CAP ROOM: $17,432,793

And here's a look at the Lions' current roster:
