Lions notes: More on the Haloti Ngata trade

Lions notes looks at Haloti Ngata, various free agency updates and much more.

  • Yes please:

  • According to Jason La Canfora, there have been no changes to Haloti Ngata's contract. A lot of times, players will sign extensions or restructure their deal upon being traded, but it sounds like talks of a possible extension between Ngata and the Detroit Lions will be saved for another day.
  • The Lions aren't the only team carrying a bunch of dead money from a defensive tackle: (Side note: MLive's Justin Rogers put together a great piece on how Matt Millen's miscues and some more recent mistakes are still haunting the Lions from a salary cap perspective.)

  • One last note on Ngata for now: Go read this story from the Baltimore Ravens' official site about five things "you may not know about Haloti Ngata."

  • According to Ian Rapoport, three teams are in the mix for former Lions running back Reggie Bush: the New Orleans Saints, New England Patriots and San Francisco 49ers.

  • The Miami Dolphins are reportedly expecting to be investigated for their handling of the Ndamukong Suh contract negotiations. As dumb as this sounds, teams aren't supposed to reach agreements during the negotiating period, but the Dolphins clearly did just that with Suh. As a result, they, along with some other teams, may be in some trouble: I'm not sure what the punishment will be for the Dolphins if they're found guilty of breaking these rules or tampering with Suh, but it'd be nice if they were forced to swap some 2015 draft picks with the Lions.

  • Speaking of Suh, this is just bananas: Because it's guaranteed, the Dolphins will have to write a $60 million check upon completion of this deal. Suh won't get all $60 million at once, but still, that's insane.

  • Speaking of insane, check out the deal cornerback Darrelle Revis got from the New York Jets:
  • Defensive tackle Jared Odrick got a pretty crazy deal of his own from the Jacksonville Jaguars.
  • Former Lions quarterback Shaun Hill signed with the Minnesota Vikings on Tuesday.

  • The Green Bay Packers re-signed offensive tackle Bryan Bulaga.

  • Good luck with that, Chicago.
