Justin Blalock's visit with Lions reportedly goes well

He hasn't been signed yet, but free agent Justin Blalock reportedly had a "good" visit with the Detroit Lions.

Jim Brown-USA TODAY Sports

Before they signed a defensive tackle late on Thursday, the most notable news of the day for the Detroit Lions was that they hosted free-agent offensive guard Justin Blalock for a visit. The Lions are trying to figure out who their starter will be at left guard next season, and Blalock has seemingly jumped to the top of the list following his visit.

At this point, no deal has been agreed to between the two sides, and there's no known timetable in place for when something might be worked out. However, Michael Rothstein reports that Blalock's visit with the Lions went well.

There has been talk that Blalock is going to visit the St. Louis Rams as well, but it's unclear if something has already been scheduled or if that is still in the works. If Detroit really wants to sign him, it would be wise to get something done before he has a chance to take another visit. Then again, Blalock may want to fully explore all of his options before making a decision one way or the other.
