Lions notes: Rashean Mathis, Justin Blalock, more

Lions notes looks at Rashean Mathis, Justin Blalock and much more.

Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports
  • Rashean Mathis played on a minimum contract last season, and he really outperformed that deal. As a result, the NFL has awarded him $227,241.98 as a "performance-based" bonus. Each team gets bonuses like this on an annual basis, and you can check out the Detroit Lions' full list for 2014 here.

  • Here's the latest on Justin Blalock, who visited the Lions earlier this week:
  • MLive's Justin Rogers put together a scouting report on Tyrunn Walker, who signed with the Lions on Thursday.

  • According to The Detroit News' Josh Katzenstein, "two other teams were in the mix" for Haloti Ngata before the Lions traded for him.

  • Former Lions running back Reggie Bush visited the New England Patriots on Friday. He previously visited the San Francisco 49ers.

  • I don't believe the Lions were ever directly linked to either of these players, but two more defensive tackles are off the market:
  • The New Orleans Saints just can't stop trading away players.
  • Speaking of the Saints, they signed running back C.J. Spiller to a four-year, $18 million deal on Friday. Before free agency began, the Lions were mentioned as having interest in Spiller, but nothing ever came of that rumor.

  • Wide receiver Percy Harvin is headed to the Buffalo Bills.

  • Finally, the Minnesota Vikings traded for wide receiver Mike Wallace on Friday.
