Positions (first round)

  • Offensive tackle - 17
  • Running back - 9
  • Defensive tackle - 7
  • Center - 3
  • Defensive end - 3
  • Cornerback - 2

Despite losing both Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley in free agency, defensive tackle is no longer the most popular position for the Lions in mock drafts. Last time around, 21 mocks had the Lions taking a DT in the first round, but that number is now down to seven.

Jumping to the front of the pack is offensive tackle, which saw an increase from five to 17 mock drafts this time around. Running back also went up quite a bit after being the Lions' pick in only four mock drafts last time.

Players (first round)

  • RB Melvin Gordon (Wisconsin) - 6
  • OT Andrus Peat (Stanford) - 5
  • OT D.J. Humphries (Florida) - 5
  • OT Ereck Flowers (Miami FL) - 4
  • DT Malcom Brown (Texas) - 4
  • RB Todd Gurley (Georgia) - 3
  • C Cameron Erving (Florida State) - 3
  • DE Arik Armstead (Oregon) - 3
  • OT T.J. Clemmings (Pittsburgh) - 2
  • DT Jordan Phillips (Oklahoma) - 2
  • CB Jalen Collins (LSU) - 2
  • OT La'el Collins (LSU) - 1
  • DT Eddie Goldman (Florida State) - 1

Malcom Brown and Eddie Goldman were the clear-cut favorites in our last database, but now Melvin Gordon of all people has jumped to the front of the pack. There's been a lot of talk about Todd Gurley being the Lions' first-round pick, and plenty of offensive tackles are represented above, but Gordon leads the way by appearing as the Lions' pick in six different mock drafts.
